Supreme Speckle Park Female at the Speckle Park feature Glen Innes Show 2023.
We don’t show many cattle these days so we are very pleased to grab a win with our single entry, Heartbreaker M1’s last natural daughter at 11 months old. Congratulations to all the exhibitors on a strong display of Speckle Park cattle, it was great to see 40 entries at our local show.
It is with much sadness that today (18/12/23) will be remembered as the last day we had the honour of having our great matriarch grazing our pastures.
Battalion Heartbreaker M1 will go down in the history books as the single most impressive animal we have ever had the pleasure of owning. Her progeny sale records speak for themselves and are unlikely to ever be repeated but the biggest loss is she was the closest thing to a family member on four legs one could imagine.
When you have livestock you must expect losses and for that reason we always try not to get too attached. This girl broke that rule though, and forced her way into our family through the unbelievable opportunities and memories she created.
As a farmer you quite often end up spending more time in the paddock with your animals than you do with your family. So much time was spent with her that a mutual trust was established early in her life and her flushing programs would be performed in the paddock, only coming to the yards for the actual flush. Knowing there would be a food reward she would noticeable be uplifted to hear me coming on the bike and come to meet me for her injections, standing freely in the paddock and never once lifting a foot.
Such a loveable personality that was also so gentle with our children, especially our 3 year old daughter Grace who would remind me every day it was time to go give Heartbreaker her medicine (towards the end after her injury). Grace developed a natural bond with her last natural calf and became the best of friends spending time looking after Heartbreakers baby.
She was the gift that kept on giving. Although no longer with us, her impact will be felt for years to come, the army of Heartbreakers she has created will continue to multiply and insure her legacy will never be forgotten.
Rest In Peace Heartbreaker...
